Skinny Dip Semillon
And now for something completely
different.
Over the last 10 years we have
produced some classical Semillons at Mount Broke. The judges
love us and give us awards almost every time. But is that ever
enough?
In 2011 we decided
to try something radical and produce a low-alcohol, sweet and
fruity wine from Semillon. The logic was that as Semillon has
this natural acidity, we could ramp up the sweetness without
losing the freshness, reduce the level of alcohol down to about
8.5% (from the more normal 12%) and that meant we could have a
second glass.
The result - Skinny
Dip.
The sensation is
that of biting into a fresh, crisp green grape. This pretty much
the ideal first glass of wine of the evening - it refreshes the
palate and lifts the spirits. Perfect with the fruit and cheese
plate sitting on the varandah with your feet up on a Saturday
afternoon ...
